    Supporting Interpersonal Equity Skills in the Workplace

    Location:
    WHERE: Our meeting will be held at Dorian’s Restaurant, 555 Washington Boulevard, Jersey City, NJ.
    This location is reachable via the Hudson Bergen Light Rail Newport stop, the PATH Newport stop; or there are parking lots in the area. I generally park at the mall parking lot on Mall Drive West which is to the right of the restaurant when facing it.

    FEE: $40 for Gateway SHRM members; $45.00 for non-Gateway members. This covers meeting cost and dinner. (Cash bar)

    Our Presenter will be Eva Vega-Olds.  Eva delivers thoughtful leadership to enhance diversity and inclusion efforts at major organizations and educational institutions.  She is a passionate anti-bias / bias management educator and social justice advocate. Her experience includes working for colleges and universities, and a civil rights organization, leading and creating anti-bias education training and learning resources.  Eva’s mission is to provide that education in as many modalities (keynotes, workshops, theater performances, personal/ group coaching, etc.) to connect others with the work. She strives to help create greater understanding and to motivate others to take up the mantle of creating more significant equity and justice for all. To help others choose to question, analyze, and change the systems they participate in equitable ways.

    Supporting Interpersonal Equity Skills in the Workplace

    Eva will cover:

    Ø Introduction of current trends in DEI in the public sphere. 

    Ø Intellectual knowledge sets (hard skills)

    Ø Interpersonal skills (soft skills) that help alleviate tension and support the positive navigation of issues  that center the needs of community and growth. 

    Ø How to reflect (it’s a skill!) understand how to leverage “space,” for health and wellness, and tapping in to curiosity.

    Ø Increase awareness of the skills that are necessary to leverage to promote DEI.
