Our Speaker will be Christle Garvey of the Saiber Law Firm.  Christle is a labor and employment attorney who represents management.  She is an experienced litigator who has served as lead counsel defending corporations and higher education clients against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and breach of contract.  Christle proactively minimizes her clients’ risk by developing employment policies, drafting handbooks, conducting internal investigations, and providing training on employment policies.

Christle’s presentation, “Legal Update for HR Professionals:  New Laws, Hot Topics, and Best Practices for 2018,” will survey the rapidly changing employment and labor law landscape on both the federal and local (NY and NJ) levels, and will provide updates on a variety of important areas including Affordable Care Act compliance, important decisions from the NLRB reversing course from the prior administration, and medical leave laws, among other updates.  The program will also discuss hot topics in HR trending in 2018, including the notable spike in sexual harassment complaints, and review best practices for addressing these issues in the workplace to limit exposure for employers.  The presentation will conclude with a question and answer session
