This presentation will discuss relevant updates and changes in the world of employment law, including discussions of New Jersey’s recently passed Pay Transparency Act, the FTC’s final rule banning non-compete agreements, updates to the NJ Temporary Workers’ Bill of Rights, and the EEOC’s final rule regarding the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, among other topics.

Our presenter Cody C. Hubbs is an associate in the Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. His practice focuses on employment litigation and employment counseling.

Cody’s litigation practice includes the representation of employers in a wide range of legal issues including wrongful termination, pay equity, discrimination, harassment, retaliation and whistleblower matters brought pursuant to the New Jersey Conscientious Employee Protection Act, the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, the New Jersey Wage and Hour Law, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and other state and federal statutes. Additionally, he has experience defending entities with respect to COVID-19 related claims and claims brought against municipalities pursuant to the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, the New Jersey Identity Theft Protection Act, and the New Jersey Civil Rights Act. Cody represent clients in both federal and state courts, as well as before administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights. In addition to litigation, he counsels clients with respect to various state and federal employment statutes, including the NJ Temporary Workers’ Bill of Rights.

While attending law school, Cody completed an internship with the Hon. Barry T. Albin (Ret.) and worked as a student attorney in the District of New Jersey Representation in Settlement Conference Practicum and the Southern District of New York Representation in Mediation Practicum where he represented indigent clients in various employment-related matters.  He also worked as a student attorney in the FINRA investor advocacy program, assisting indigent individuals in various financial-related matters. Additionally, Cody was a member of Seton Hall University’s interscholastic Moot Court Board.

Prior to joining the firm, Cody represented corporate entities in New York and New Jersey in complex employment and financial-related litigations and also counseled clients with respect to day-to-day employment issues, including advice surrounding the rapidly-changing COVID-19 requirements.
