Human Resources professionals are responsible for supporting both the organization we work for and the employees. We are responsible for ensuring the systems, policies, and programs are in place to support organization goals and objectives. Not only that they are in place, but also that they are compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. For those of us that work for organizations with operations in multiple states or countries, this provides for added complexities for compliance. We source, screen, and recruit candidates for hiring managers. We run analytics to support data-driven decisions. We ensure we have competitive compensation and benefit programs to attract and retain employees. We deal with employee issues, complaints, and investigations to ensure our workplaces are free of harassment and discrimination. We deliver training programs for all levels of employees and partner with management on leadership development programs. And over the past year, we have been hyper-focused on providing for a safe and equitable workplace.

As HR professionals, we take care of a lot of other things and people. The annual conference is a great opportunity to show the same level of care to your career. This conference is designed to motivate you by focusing on hot topics on the horizon for employers, providing an update on labor and employment laws, and offering valuable insights from industry leaders, conference sponsors and solution providers.

The 2021 GSC-SHRM Conference and Expo, scheduled for October 17-19, marks our 30^th anniversary, an event the volunteers of the GSC-SHRM Council proudly puts on each year for the benefit of the New Jersey human resources community but is open to all to attend. For the second consecutive year, we are hosting this as a virtual event.

To meet the needs of our diverse attendee needs, programming takes on many forms, including keynote, mega and concurrent sessions covering a multitude of topics. Integrated throughout our event will be conference activities, including the opportunity to visit with our conference sponsors who offer valuable solutions that can ease the challenges you face on a daily basis.

This year, our charity of choice is The SHRM Foundation which we will be supporting through an on-line auction during the conference. The SHRM Foundation's mission is to mobilize the power of HR and activate the generosity of donors to lead positive social change impacting all things work. The Foundation is committed to elevating and empowering HR as a social force through its innovative solutions to workplace inclusion challenges, programming designed to inspire and empower the next generation of HR leaders, and awarding scholarships and professional development grants to educate and develop students and HR professionals.  The SHRM Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management.
